Financial support has been provided by the Department of Environmental Protection’s Environmental Education Grants Program and hosted by the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium!

Bokashi is a simple fermentation style of composting that relies on anaerobic or effective micro organisms (EM)-Think Probiotics! This style of composting pickles your food scraps, is great for small spaces, and allows you to compost prepared foods, scraps, meat, small bones, and dairy in only 5-8 weeks! Attendees received a FREE bokashi system complete with 2, repurposed 5-gal buckets with air-tight lids and 2 lbs of upcycled bokashi bran from Garden of Oz (limited to one system per household WHILE SUPPLIES LAST!)

Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium admission is included with event registration! Park in the main Zoo parking lot and proceed to the Education Complex. See map.

Thank you for supporting a waste-free Pennsylvania!
